Train passing stationary object
Train having length of L including engine when passes a stationary object the time taken by train to pass stationary object with width W is calculated as follows
Time taken by train to pass object is T= (Length of Train L + width of stationary object W) / speed of train S
i.e. T = ( L + W ) / S
The stationary objects can be a poll, station, bridge, tunnel or other stationary train.
If it is a poll we can assume width of object as 0 i.e. W = 0 meters, then our formula becomes
T = ( L + 0 ) / S
i.e. T = L / S
