Importance of NCERT Text book in preparation of Competitive Exams
The NCERT literally means The National Council of Education Research and Training; it was established in 1961 to create a common programme of school education. The NCERT designs textbooks, support material, training programmes etc. to meet diverse needs of country. Based on NCERT designed syllabus and text books individual state boards create books. Therefore preparing for competitive exams without NCERT text books is not easy.
Books published by NCERT are also used by Central governments schools of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and are helpful for preparation of state PSCs, MPSC Exams, UPSC, Civil Services Exams, Railways Exams, Bank Exams and Other Competitive Exams. To understand basics of subjects like Biology, Chemistry and Physics which are very important for CET (Common entrance test) for Medicine and Engineering even for NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST - NEET (UG) for Medical Admissions. Competitive Exams like MPSC, UPSC, Civil services exams need immense and in-depth knowledge of History, Geography etc. subjects. New syllabus books are good for Geography and old syllabus books are preferred for History. To understand concept behind any topic there is no alternative to NCERT text books.
Hope you will not ignore NCERT books while preparing for competitive exams, don’t just depend on single source of information but don’t overexert to find multiple sources. First understand detailed syllabus for exam you are preparing and then get the books as per the syllabus. Many questions in competitive exams were asked straight from these books but don’t be in under impression that all questions will be from these text books.
